[08/11/2002] Sarah Fisher wins the pole position and makes history!

By: -

Female Power proudly announces: SPARTA, Ky, 21-year-old driver Sarah Fisher took her G Force-Infiniti into racing history today by becoming the first woman to win the pole position in the Belterra Casino Indy 300. Fisher, who also turned the fastest lap at more than 222 mph at this morning’s practice, was undoubtedly excited about her win. After a bumpy new year in which Sarah was released from her contract with Walker Racing, she found new confidence after being hired on to Team Dreyer & Reinbold Racing in late April 2002. Fisher has been setting racing records since she was behind the wheel of her go-kart at eight-years-old and there is no doubt that this dedicated woman will amaze us again! When speaking of her balancing act as a college student, a woman, and a race car driver, Fisher has been quoted as saying, “It hasn’t been easy, but with patience and focus I think you can do anything you dream about, and that’s what I’m doing now, living my dream.”
