By: -

Enthusiasts cruising Woodward Avenue on Aug. 17 during the 8th Annual Woodward Dream Cruise will want to check out the action at Ford’s new Mustang Drive-In. Located on Woodward, between 11 and 12 Mile Roads and just east of downtown Berkley, the Ford attraction will feature a replica of a classic 1950s drive-in diner, complete with live entertainment, food and classic Ford cars.

“Ford’s Mustang Drive-In will bring the best days of cruising back to life, with music, food and great classic cars,” said Francisco Codina, general marketing manager, Ford Division. “We’re excited to be right on Woodward this year, showcasing Ford cars of the past, present and future and welcoming all the cruisers to Ford country.”

The Mustang Drive-In will feature a 40-foot-high, 50-foot-wide screen serving as a backdrop for local bands that will perform throughout the day. Beyond the stage will be a collection of classic Fords owned by Ford Motor Company employees. Also figuring prominently in the display will be Ford’s Living Legends Tour, which features the GT40 concept, the Ford Forty-Nine concept, a 2002 Thunderbird and two 2003 special-edition Mustangs, the Mach 1 and Pony.

Throughout the day, Ford''s Mustang Drive-In will serve up snow cones, hot dogs, fries and ice cream. All pedestrians and cruisers are welcome to visit, enjoy the music and the views. There will be short-term parking for cruisers.

Ford also is a sponsor of Berkley''s CruiseFest, which will be held Fri., Aug 16. The annual CruiseFest is an evening of fun that features live entertainment, activities for children, sidewalk sales and a parade through downtown Berkley. Several classic Ford muscle cars will lead the parade, including one that will carry parade grand marshal and legendary Detroit rocker Mitch Ryder. Ryder also will perform Saturday at the Mustang Drive-In.
