Motorheads are always in search of ways for more power or less weight. When it comes to removing weight from your Mustang, taking it off the front end of the car is preferable to removing it from elsewhere. With this in mind, I decided to remove some weight from the front of my 93 LX coupe using a tubular front-end system and switching to manual steering. Of course there were some "snags" enco...

The BF Goodrich: Roush Round Up and Ford Festival Ready for Grand Debut

Livonia, MI – Roush Performance, the street-performance division of Roush Industries, announced the first ever “Roush Round Up and Ford Festival” to be held August 15 – 16, 2003 in Livonia, MI, sponsored by BF Goodrich.

The inaugural “BF Goodrich: Roush Round Up and Ford Festival” features a unique format, which can only be described as a “Three-day Automotive Triathlon”. Participants, which will include any Ford product including Roush vehicles, will have the opportunity to compete in road course, drag strip and car show competitions.

“This event is designed to have something for everyone. Roush and Ford owners can register to go fast in a straight line at the drag strip, test their road course driving capabilities or show their masterpiece in our concourse show or attempt an overall win by competing in all three,” said Larry Parker, President of Roush Performance.

This exciting event is being held to coincide with other activities in the Detroit area; such as, The Woodward Dream Cruise (Saturday, August 16th) and the NASCAR Winston Cup event at Michigan International Speedway (Sunday, August 17th).

The structure of the event is simple.

The first day of the competition, Friday August 15th, will feature an all day road course (1.3 miles) driving event at Waterford Hills Road Course in Clarkston, MI. Contestants will be timed in accordance with their class of vehicle and awards will be presented to each class winner. The second day of competition, Saturday August 16th, will showcase a morning at The Milan Dragway in Milan, MI. Again, timed classes and awards will be presented. On Saturday (mid-morning) after the drag racing activities, participants will cruise to the Roush Performance World Headquarters in Livonia, MI where the afternoon car show and picnic will be held.

At the end of the car show, class winners and the Roush Performance Triathlon Grand Champion will be crowned.

The Grand Triathlon Champion will then lead a parade of Roush and Ford vehicles to an evening on Woodward Avenue, where over 1 ½ million spectators traditionally flock to see the best collection of street rods in the world. The Woodward Dream Cruise is known as the world’s largest one-day automotive event.
